i had a misunderstanding with my sister the other day which resulted to my not having anyone to watch ku last night. i ended up not making it to meikee’s show at DNA for that POPROXX thing to do visuals. (sorry meikee~ i promise to do a real kick ass set for the GUSGUS show).
ku and i ended up just kicking it at home and watching a movie…the fox and the hound. that movie is so sad it made both of us cry =( i guess sappiness is gonna run the family =P
*after school last thursday, we went to amoeba records where we always go after a slice at escape from new york’s pizza. he knows exactly where to run to…the kiddie video section! i promised to get him two flix and i get one. he started whining for a third one and i told him, ‘dude! if you ask for too much, you’ll never appreciate what you get!’ …he was like, ‘ooookkaaaayyyy….=( ‘ he grabbed lion king and bambi. i looked for my one flick…actually the cure music video collection 79-89, but they didn’t have it anymore. so i said i would get a record instead and headed over to the blackmetal section to look for TROLL. not there either.
so i turned to ku and said, ‘yo, dude…guess what?’ he was like, ‘what, daddy?!’ i whispered, ‘…you get a third movie…’ his eyes lit up like deer in headlights and he yawped, ‘YAY!!!!!’ he ran and grabbed The Fox & The Hound, my favorite when i was his age! remember that one, anyone? real tearjerker about best friends. when we got to the counter, the cashier guy was like, ‘hey, dudes, did you know you can get one for free when you buy three?’ i looked down to ku with my eyes wide open and he was like, ‘WHAT DADDY?!’ i said, you get one more! HE FREAKED!!!! ran to the vid section again and grabbed Mouse Detective and was cheesing the whole night.
i said to him, ‘…see, if you don’t expect too much, you totally appreciate what you do get…it works for everything.’ he said, ‘…totally…can we get some more pizza?’ arrrrrgh! =D

iggy pop and tom waits have an awkward meeting at some dive pub diner. my favorite scene from the movie coffee and cigarettes…

alfred molina and alex coogan portray very real industry types, the genuine and the fake…brilliant scene.

he was all about making brunch today. i suggested a nice english fry-up with a plateful of eggs, ham, stewed tomatoes, beans, and crushed sausage… he was like, ‘…ew!’ =D
so, he insisted on ‘natto-maki’
nori (seaweed)
natto (fermented soybeans)
rice (short grain)
morning star sausages (vegan)
soy milk
nihon no jerro (japanese jello-orange flavor)
after we ate, i had some coffee and half a spliff and he put on Mike Oldfield’s ‘Amarok’ and we did some theater with the music as the soundtrack! haha! it was killer. the music told the story and we improvised what it was…something about a dancing monkey, a banana, a pretty girl, a puppy, and a wedding(?)…i dunno. but it was funny… then we played guitar in the backyard and i had some coffee and half a spliff. it’s a nice sunday. i think i’ll do laundry now…
*i picked up this album Amarok by Mike Oldfield while in switzerland (lake luzerne) years back. i recognized his name because he scored the theme for THE EXORCIST. this album isn’t available in the US, i think, but he plays over 65 stringed and percussion instruments including a toolbox, a toy dog, and shit like that. the whole record is a non-stop hour long composition of brilliance that’s perfect for a sunday high noontime playtime extravaganza for all ages. very thoughtful. look for it if you play guitar…
