Erik Morales, (former) Super Bantam & Featherweight Champion, Mexican/American National Hero.

Erik Morales was on my mind the whole day yesterday. Eventhough I am rejoicing the victory of Manny “Pacman The Destroyer” Pacquiao along with 7 million other Philippinese the world over, I couldn’t help but also feel proud to be Aztec-Americanese.

Erik Morales, our Aztec Warrior and hero of the past 12 years, who thrilled and inspired many people beyond borders for his uncanny ability to beat the shit out of other fighters and remain classy, kind, and thoughtful of others, especially those who came from the same poverty stricken roots as he did. I respect him so much and feel that he is ultimately deserving of a Hall of Fame spot in the athletic world.

His interview at the end of the fight on Saturday sounded like a retirement speech. It was his 5th career loss and may ultimately be his last super-featherweight fight. I hope he continues to support the poor and exalt other young Aztec fighters. I take my hat off to Erik Morales for 12 years of unrelenting toughness and vigor…our Aztec-Hispano Hero.

i’ve come down with a fever. i knew i would eventually catch it being that i’ve been around lots of people and kids, shaking hands and sharing bowls. i couldn’t afford to get sick but i did. i’m sniveling right now. i feel hot. i can’t breathe. i sneeze globs. worse of all i can’t think. i have so much i need to do and i’m starting to get nervous. i guess i’ve hit my ‘doubt’ phase.

everytime i work on passion projects, i always go through a time when i wonder why i’m doing what i’m doing and whether it’s worth the struggle. i keep telling myself it’s for the art…but what good is art if i’m not happy and healthy?

my doubts are resulting from the abscess growing within this movie i’m trying to make. the project is getting bigger faster than i want it too. i don’t want it to implode. yes, there are lots of people supporting it…but in order for it to be a true ‘joselito’ movie, it should creep up and not have hype around it before it’s done. so, i’ve decided to scale back. quality…not quantity. i decided to focus on getting the right people for the key roles and take time while pushing forward. i want this movie to happen…but it needs to happen right…not “right now.”

we hung out this last weekend and went to that big riottt show at the civic. that was awesome! i had lots of fun. my old friend, prem (flavor group), was the one that produced the whole event with scion and riottt.com. that guy is really poppin’ up! he started out holding breakdance battles in the city years ago and now bust bill graham??? good for him.

i had a good time. i wanted to stick around at the arrow after but my company had other things in mind. she’s not as social so i couldn’t just get all shitfaced and expect her to deal with my drunken monkeyness. although, i really did want to stay for a few reasons…but i think it was the beer goggles…

either i’m paranoid or people are really spying on me. several times last saturday, i felt like someone was watching me but i couldn’t figure out who or why. i know it’s not my good looks…cuz i lost those when i found pounds. maybe it’s because my arms look shorter now that my torso is bigger. i look like a giant midget.

i need to regain my confidence. i’m starting to feel that people aren’t taking me seriously. or, rather, i’m starting to take people too seriously. i’m gonna retreat for a minute and strategize an alternative execution. i’m gonna need hugs and kisses…after my glob sneezes, of course.

i hope i magnetize other angels of like-vibe soon. i know it’s all timing…but soon is good. this movie is really important to me. it’s my “magnum opus” if you will…a tatoo of myself as you.

i once became involved with a classmate about 10 years ago. she was a gorgeous girl, smart, and intense. she was overall happy and we had the time of our lives together. we spent halloween together then and fell in love. the only problem was that we couldn’t stay together. she knew i had another girlfriend who was coming back at the end of summer. we had this impending doom that worked at our passions but we never talked about it. we just got more intense as the time got closer.

she painted her nails with little flowers and wore doc martens. she listened to KMFDM and loved siouxsie since she was pre-teen. in her little room, where she stayed and drank by herself many a night, she had a little fridge. all she had inside were cigarettes and alcohol. she was pretty…and she was busty. the best thing about her was that she laughed at all my jokiness. she liked me for that.

when the day came, we broke it off. deep inside, she told me, she had hoped that we could be together. but, if there wasn’t another person, we both might’ve not been as into each other and we both thought that. the night that i told her that i can’t see her anymore, we sat in her car. she cried for a minute…then said, ‘ok. that was fun…’ she was over it just like that.
