what we should be doing right now.

i’m real eager to record some music soon. i’m submitting two shorts to sundance for january and the deadline is in weeks. i have two to send but one of them has no music clearance. i guess i’ll have to score it myself…again! feck!
but, as long as i get it in this week, i can focus on the other 5 billion other fecking projects i got stacked up: the feature, the music video, the record, back to school, back to work, the demented remix, the metal music video, the book, the script, the death angel documentary, the screening, the fam, my dog, and the sound system in the living room…and then move. geez.

the other night, i went to the arrow bar for the first time in years to visit ghosts and reminisce on innocence broken down and broken in. it’s called Matador now and the old “$2 for frisco, $1 for disco” sign which use to be taped on to the door has been replaced with a picture of a Matador suffering a terrible bull fight.

i was talking to the door guy and told him about how i’m named after a famous torero of the turn of the century in spain who died a violent death during a bullfight, then pointed at the picture. he was like, ‘whoa dude, like, really? that’s tight…huh huh.” then he flexed and took me inside to show me how they fixed all the walls (and the bathrooms apparently) except for the hole on the whole that he made one night demonstrating to his boss how to punch sketchy pete.
i have to admit, the old arrow bar looks pretty nice inside now. i do, however, miss the ‘cave dungeon’ appeal of the old days and all the molesting that made it addictive to attend every week(end).
i miss playing records.
